I got a lot of interest after I shared my Everlane try on session on Instagram last week, so I figured I’d round up what I loved and share them for you here.
(Shoes are Rothys. Here’s my $20 off code.)
If you aren’t familiar with the brand, Everlane is a fashion brand focused on ethical sourcing, quality basics that will last, and transparency about pricing. I had heard of them through the grapevine a few years ago, but got more familiar after my sister-in-law took a job at their headquarters. Unfortunately there are only two stores right now – one in San Francisco and one in NYC on the same street as the Beautycounter store! – so I hadn’t purchased much. I was thrilled to get to the SF store and do a huge try on session so that I know how things fit when I want to buy online in the future. And spoiler: it all fit amazingly!
Everlane Transparency
I really dig companies that are honest and doing the right thing. On Everlane’s website, they break down all of the costs associated with the products and then what their markup is. (See below for a pair of jeans.) They also have a special section on the website called “Choose What You Pay,” where the end of season items are available all the way down to just cost. Pretty awesome. I find the regular prices to be comparable to a J.Crew or Banana, and I’m happy to support a company with such great values.
My Everlane Favorites
Everlane does classic basics really well. It’s the kind of place you could create your own capsule wardrobe out of! I had to stop myself from buying everything, but I know I’ll continue to shop with them and start to get on good quality pieces over time. With more news coming out about the environmental impact of the fashion industry, I am going to try to make an effort to buy less but buy better.
Their simple t-shirts fit perfectly and the bottoms were the best fit I’ve ever found. Pants that hit at my waist, fit my butt, but don’t gap at the waist! Shorts that actually fit! Nothing short of miraculous. (FYI – crops were size down for me, shorts, jeans, and tops were true to size.)
I wound up getting the black crops, the white summer tank, and the white shorts. A pair Cheeky Straight jeans and the wrap dress below are next on my list, along with some basic tees. And I really want to try out some of their shoes! I’m thinking this pair of booties that I can wear at work, but the loafers were also the most comfortable I’d ever tried on.
