US Shares Intel on COVID Origins with UK Amid Lab-Leak Suspicions

United States: In the era of Mike Pompeo’s tenure as US secretary of state, clandestine information flowed to the United Kingdom amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, suggesting a “substantial probability” that the lethal coronavirus emanated from a Chinese laboratory, as per disclosures made to The Telegraph.

An espionage consortium identified as “Five Eyes” purportedly convened in January 2021 to deliberate the lab-origin hypothesis, as per disclosures from the publication. Concurrently, Pompeo purportedly relayed insights from classified American briefs curated by the State Department to the then-UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, alongside envoys from New Zealand, Canada, and Australia.

As per the British periodical, two erstwhile Trump administration functionaries opine that Raab – and the UK administration collectively – disregarded the lab-origin hypothesis under duress from governmental scholars who favored the notion that the ailment had zoonotic origins, as reported by Fox News.

“We encountered multiple fragments of intelligence and found them, candidly speaking, staggering,” remarked one former operative engaged in Pompeo’s dossier, per The Telegraph. “They unequivocally alluded to the significant probability of a laboratory breach.”

The dossiers, encapsulating insights amassed in the initial phases of the pandemic, were likewise disseminated to the UK via Five Eyes between October and December 2020. The Five Eyes consortium comprises Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

A document excerpted by The Telegraph delineated US officials’ allegations against Chinese counterparts for “obfuscation” alongside “egregious malfeasance and incompetence.” Furthermore, it purportedly unveiled collaboration between the Chinese military and the Wuhan Institute of Virology predating the pandemic, with lab personnel purportedly falling ill shortly before the onset of COVID-19 cases in the vicinity, Fox News mentioned.

On May 1, the US House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic called for a criminal inquiry into the genesis of the COVID-19 pathogen.

The entreaties for an inquiry ensued following the unveiling of an interim staff dossier indicting Dr Peter Daszak, President of EcoHealth Alliance, for patronizing “risky gain-of-function exploration in Wuhan, China, sans adequate oversight.”

According to legislative representatives, EcoHealth disbursed taxpayer funds “to bankroll perilous gain-of-function inquiries at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV)” in China.

The NGO refutes such contentions, as outlined by Fox News.

Fox News Digital formerly disclosed that EcoHealth Alliance garnered millions in grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), with US taxpayer monies channeling to Chinese entities engaged in coronavirus research via EcoHealth Alliance.
